Dan Gregory’s grandson contacted me.
He is a musician too. Check out his website

He grew up next to his grandfather and according to Mitch, Dan continued to play piano, even after a stroke up until his death.

Mitch,
I played sax w/Dan Gregory in 1937 (w/ Rip Ripani/Ray Rossi/Kenny Frew etc.) He then hired me for the summers of ‘38,’39′and ‘40. He treated me like a “father away from home”, intoduced me to a girl at Ocean View Park ballroom (Norfolk) who became my late wife of 63 years! I owe my college education and many subsequent wonderful happenings to his kindness. After my WW2 service as weather officer at a bomber base in England (w/Jimmy Stewart), I played a few times for Rosemary Clooney who lauded Dan for his part in launching her career! I cherish the many memories I have of Dan, “Fats” Gority and all the great guys in his bands.
